One lakeside promenade after another

A walk from Colonno to Cadenabbia along the banks of the Lario, meeting romantic villages and wonderful historical villas leaving the mountains behind to admire the enchantment of the lake.

There are many possibilities for walking in Tremezzina and if you are not the right person for hard work or demanding climbs, this itinerary is the right one for you: a pleasant walk from Colonno to Cadenabbia to discover the lakeside promenade of every village in Tremezzina.
It is nothing more than a route that in some stretches coincides with the Greenway of Lake Como and in others diverges in order to dedicate itself to a closer encounter with the water and the lake landscape.

The starting point is Colonno, more precisely, arriving from Argegno, a few metres after the waterfall (visible along the Statale road) you have to turn into the first little road that from the Statale descends towards the lake. You arrive in this way on the lakefront which allows you to reach first the pebble beach of the village, crowded with families enjoying the summer sun, then the municipal playground and finally it joins the parish church of S. Michele Arcangelo.

From here you pass to the right of the church and join the cobblestone road overlooking the lake and then cross the bridge.
The same little road then joins the Statale Regina road, where you will stay only for a few seconds, and just before the old people’s home you follow the lake promenade that leads from Colonno to Sala Comacina. This stretch has been recently built and allows a first view of the Tremezzina and the Comacina Island.
Once the small road is finished you continue on the main road until the first street on the right in the village of Sala, which takes you directly to the Navigation pier.

It is from this point that the discovery of the lakefront of Sala Comacina begins, with its small sandy beach, and moving through the narrow streets you reach the town square which enjoys a splendid view of the island.
You continue following the road near the lake and moving more and more towards Ossuccio you arrive in the area Zoca de L’Oli, you climb the state road and continue until you meet the Church of San Giacomo which overlooks a breathtaking view.

Chiesa dei Santi Giacomo e Filippo a Spurano - Tremezzina

Now you go up and rejoin the Regina road and then down the second road to the lake that leads you to Ospedaletto, a tourist resort and perfect for bathing.
You descend towards the lake and here you are on the Ossuccio promenade, with its piers and the various entrances to the lake… another 200 metres and you come to the main road and you find the sign indicating the Greenway which you follow for a short stretch.

Lido di Ossuccio - Ospedaletto - Tremezzina

On your right the beautiful Villa del Balbiano with its Italian garden and its historical charm; but you continue crossing the bridge, then you go down to the lake and reach the mouth of the river Perlana… waiting for you a characteristic pitch from which you continue your journey that still joins the Greenway.
And here you are in front of another villa: Villa Monastero, renowned today as an exclusive wedding location.

Villa Monastero - Lenno

You continue in the direction of the Lavedo, passing through a flat road behind the Sigma supermarket in Lenno and you reach the Lenno lakeside promenade, which starts right near the entrance to Villa Balbianello and Lido di Lenno.

Along this lakeside promenade it is easy to find markets especially during the summer, as well as numerous village festivals based on local food and live music.
You arrive in front of the Navigazione di Lenno, you cross the little bridge and here you are in the San Giorgio stone beach.

Spiaggia Chiosco di Venere - Lenno - Tremezzina

You go up towards the Regina, continue along the path to the right of the entrance to the Parco Comunale di Mezzegra which leads you to the small square of the village which then always joins the main road.

Piazza Magnolia - Mezzegra

From here you continue for a few metres on the state road until the first pitch on the right where a pavement begins: you can stop for a few minutes to see the wonderful Villa Sola Cabiati, and then a short visit to the Teresio Olivelli Park.

Villa Sola Cabiati - Tremezzo

From the park continues a spacious pavement that allows you to conclude your itinerary reaching Cadanebbia; along the way a beautiful view of Bellagio, the lake, the tourist area of Tremezzo, the luxury hotels, Villa Carlotta, the Battello Bisbino renovated today in a bar-restaurant and many flowers and colours that only the Tremezzina can offer.

Villa Carlotta - Tremezzina

If you wish, you can continue along the lake shore until you reach Menaggio, a village with a beautiful lakeside promenade with a romantic and suggestive stretch.
