Ravel's Dreams

A very special evening. One of the most important interpreters in the world of Maurice Ravel's music, the Canadian Louis Lortie meets and presents the young Minorcan talent Marco Mezquida and his very original reinterpretation of Ravel. The evening opens with a solo by Lortie, an unprecedented four-handed duo, and then we enter Ravel's Dreams for the Catalan trio. From the Blue Note of New York to that of Tokyo, from the Festival of Montreaux to that of Montreal, the original and overwhelming pianism of Marco Mezquida has struck the hearts of hundreds of fans. Born in Menorca in 1987, he has recorded more than 50 albums with the best musicians in the country: 15 as a leader or co-leader and 36 as a sideman. He has performed in jazz festivals in more than 30 countries: Europe, East Asia, North and South America, North Africa (Tokyo, London, Barcelona, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Montreux Jazz Festival, Montreal etc.). He has played and/or recorded with jazz legends such as Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Carme Canela, Elliot Zigmund, flamenco icons such as the famous guitarist Chicuelo and stars of the Iberian world. A concentration of energy and sunshine that emanates from a piano capable of mixing classical and contemporary, popular, jazz, free, pop and flamenco.
