Now in its third year, LacMus Festival's winter festival Aspettando il Natale, a series of three musical events “spread” in locations and places that share great charm and beauty. Decked out in Christmas garb and enveloped in a magical festive atmosphere, they will offer opportunities that will allow for an intimate and unprecedented musical experience.
Promoted by the Ars Aeterna Ets Association in collaboration with Villa Fogazzaro Roi, Villa Sormani Marzorati Uva, with the Parish of S. Abbondio in Mezzegra and Oria in Valsolda, and with the patronage of the municipalities of Tremezzina and Valsolda, the review poses as the Fil rouge of the events the beauty of Music associated with the miniature beauty of architectural properties chosen as precious stages to be discovered together with the bravura of talented young musicians who will perform in different formations, from harp to viola da gamba, from flute quartet to accompanied voice, with a wide range of musical programs.
It begins on Sunday, December 1 at 4 p.m. with a concert by the Prisma Flute Quartet in the Church of San Sebastiano in Oria Valsolda adjacent to Villa Fogazzaro Roi, the magnificent mansion overlooking the Como shores of Lake Lugano where writer Antonio Fogazzaro lived and set his famous novel “Piccolo Mondo Antico” . In a place of great inspiration and stillness, the concert is an invitation to celebrate the arrival of Christmas in a charming winter lake setting.
To welcome the audience the Christmas Cup of LacMus Festival, a nice and welcome gift, accompanied by a hot tea offered by the Pro Loco of Valsolda in the small square in front lit by the lights of the sunset, followed, at the end of the concert, by the excellent mulled wine that will allow to live the satisfying emotion of a new experience (in case of rain, the Grotta della Villa will be used).
The suggestion of the place will resonate on the notes of the program proposed by the ensemble consisting of Damiano Bodi, Alice Paglia, Vittorio, Nissotti, Camilla Gasparetto, a formation born within the Chamber Music course of the Conservatorio Cantelli of Novara under the guidance of Giuseppe Gregori, which will propose a repertoire with music by A. Reicha, F. Devienne, W.A Mozart and traditional Christmas.
Attendance at the concert is free of charge and can be preceded by a guided tour of the villa with a concessionary ticket upon reservation via email faifogazzaro@fondoambiente.it or by calling 0344/536602.
From the lake to Brianza, as it happens for LacMus Festival in summer, Saturday, December 14 at 4:30 p.m. the second event at Villa Sormani Marzorati Uva in Missaglia (LC). In the Lecco area under the hill of Montevecchia, the Villa, thanks to the work of Count Alberto Uva, is a center for the diffusion of territorial culture, an illustrious historical dwelling, an expression of a glorious past and evidence of a collective living projected toward a bright future. The event is a unique opportunity to enjoy a fulfilling experience in the value of sharing, also in view of the fact that the Villa is a private residence not open to the public, except in special circumstances.
With admission fee (for info and reservations via whatsapp +393516310517) the park of Villa Sormani Marzorati Uva and the adjoining Chapel of St. Anne with the fresco depicting St. Helen will offer a natural stage with the initial walk along the avenue of a hundred linden trees illuminated by lanterns and sunset light sipping hot tea thanks to the traditional gift of LacMus Festival.
This will be followed by great emotions in a plunge into the past. The concert with the harp by Valentina Ponte, a young performer and winner of numerous competitions in the Chapel of S. Maria in Villa adjacent to the main body of the Villa, will transport us to the magical time of Advent with pages by D. Scarlatti, F. Godefroid, A. Hasselmans, A. Zabel and H. Renié. A place in dialogue with Lake Como, chosen because it is a treasure chest of memories of an area where history, tradition and culture meet in a mutual exchange for which music acts as an intangible synthesis at the time of year that most invites union in all its possible inclinations and contaminations.
At the end of the concert, the charming Torchio Hall, the result of a recent restoration and enriched by a crib work by Maurizio Villa, awaits guests for a moment of conviviality and exchange of good wishes with mulled wine and panettone.
On the afternoon of Sunday, December 22, with free and free admission, starting at 4:30 p.m., music goes on the road with the third “Christmas Greenway” of Lake Como in Tremezzina.
The village of Mezzegra, rich in sumptuous palaces, is again this year's chosen location for its enchantment, which takes on a fairy-tale character during the winter period.
Three short concerts, entrusted to the interpretation of young musicians with brilliant artistic careers, will accompany the audience starting from the Church of St. Joseph.
Under the porch of the small church, a hot tea, offered by the Pro Loco of Mezzegra as a sign of welcome is the first stage that will feature Lorenzo Bobbio, a young oboist and winner of the 2022-23 National Arts Award. The melodies of G. P. Telemann, C.P.E. Bach and the expressive sonority of the oboe will flood the illuminated church to great scenic effect.
The “Christmas Greenway” will then continue at 5:15 p.m. with the second stop at the nearby Wooden Altar Chapel of the Church of St. Abbondio. The splendor of the frescoes and the magnificence of the wooden altar will be the backdrop for the duo consisting of Elsa Biscari, a voice “with softly mottled color and measured and intense phrasing,” accompanied by Carlo D'Ariano's theorbo . On the program will be music by G. Caccini, C. Merula and J.H. Kapsberger, as well as compositions from the Christmas tradition.
The third and final stage, not after a stop at the refreshment point with mulled wine offered by the Italian Association of Friends of the Crib of Tremezzina in the small square of the House of Cribs in the historic nucleus of Bonzanigo, will be hosted in Palazzo Brentano, a historic building that will welcome the public on the notes of the viola da gamba of Alessia Travaglini, an established interpreter of this instrument predecessor of the current cello. With the accompaniment of music by T. Hume, M. Marais and C.F. Abel, those attending will be able to visit the exhibition I Grandi Maestri del Presepio (The Great Masters of the Nativity ) set up by the master nativity scene artists of the AIAP Tremezzina branch.
