The Tower of the Arts of Bellagio is proposed as a cultural center open to different intellectual and artistic experiences.
The mission is to enhance the historical/artistic heritage of the territory and to promote culture in the multiplicity of its expressions.
In particular, the Tower of the arts of Bellagio aims to:
Promote the various forms of art by bringing culture out of its temples, its exclusive rites and its private circles, leading it to confront ordinary people, trying to combine accessibility and quality, local and universal dimension, past and present.
During the year, there are various artistic events such as: exhibitions of local, national and international artists, happenings, seminars of various kinds, small shows such as theatrical pieces or poetry recitals, literary and /or artistic competitions, exhibitions to support and complement the competitions held at local level, conferences, debates, book presentations.
The Tower of the Arts is the new museum space of Bellagio born from the recovery of the San Giacomo (Church Square).
The San Giacomo Tower, which stands on the south-east corner of today's Piazza della Chiesa, served as an entrance and was part of the defensive system of the ancient castle above the promontory of Bellagio.
Created on a non-profit basis, the Tower of the Arts Association manages the museum space and works to enhance the historical and artistic heritage of the territory and to promote, through the organization of events and shows, culture in the multiplicity of its expressions.
Like the bell tower of the current church of San Giacomo, the tower of the same name is attributed to the period between 1100 and 1200 .
In a more recent period, the Tower San Giacomo was flanked by a building connected to it by two doors/passages.
In 2010, the Municipal Administration prepared the intervention plan for the restructuring and inaugurated the works that, after a few months, ended with the opening of the exhibition center 'Tower of Arts'.
