Como Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, is the main building of worship, mother church of the diocese of the same name.
Located near the lake, the Duomo represents one of the most important monuments in northern Italy; its interior houses 16th- and 17th-century tapestries made in Ferrara, Florence, and Brussels, and features 16th-century paintings by Bernardino Luini and Gaudenzio Ferrari.
The clear architecture of the Cathedral towers over the historic center of Como and imposes itself on the view of the traveler arriving in the city from the passes of the plain or from the lake.
