The Church of San Nicola is located in the area of Casnedo in Cernobbio; renovated in 2001, it stands out for the mustard colour that distinguishes the building.
The façade of the Church is of Baroque inspiration, while the furnishings and decorations are probably the ones that adorned the Monastery of Santa Maria Assunta, located in the current area of Villa Erba and around which the first residential nucleus of Cernobbio developed, and the oratory that once stood where now you can see the Church.
The construction of the Church dates back to 1786 and it was built where once stood an ancient oratory dedicated to S. Carlo, wanted by the Perti family, owner of the adjacent villa. It was decided to dedicate it to St. Nicholas (celebrated every 6th of December) because once the citizens of the area went for religious functions in the homonymous chapel, located precisely at the Monastery of Santa Maria Assunta.
