In 1435 the Pizzo promontory was bought by Giovanni Mugiasca, who transformed some agricultural houses into an estate with a holiday residence.
In the 16th Century the captain of justice of Milan Giovan Battista Speziano and his son Cesare, bishop of Novara and Cremona, lived here; in the following centuries there were numerous additions and renovations to the complex, purchased in 1800 by Archduke Ranieri of Austria.
Then sold to Elise Musard, noblewoman of the Second French Empire, and later to the Counts Volpi-Bassani, the villa was modernized again, with renovations related to the color of the facade and the dock which was enlarged.
