The Church of San Michele is located in Rovenna, the highest area of Cernobbio. Of medieval origin, the church was rebuilt completely in the 17th century in Baroque style.
The provost church is dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, celebrated every 29th of September.
The facade of the building is very simple; the only decoration is the stone portal, originally located in the convent of San Marco in Borgovico in Como. According to tradition, it was transported here by fourteen oxen.
The church is structured in a single nave with four side chapels.
The carved wooden altar is in baroque style and designed by the sculptor Giovanni Battista Barberini at the end of 1600. Also interesting is the frontal, depicting St. Sebastian, St. Rocco and St.
Catherine of Alexandria, and a processional cross in gilded copper and quartz crystals dating back to the end of the 11th Century.
