This concert represents the real opening of the 2019 edition of the Festival. The protagonist is the artistic director of LacMus Louis Lortie, in a solo recital that combines three masterpieces representative of different historical periods. Lortie will begin with the Italienisches Konzert BWV 971, a pivotal work in which the author completes a journey of assimilation of the lessons of the Italian masters, to open up to a phase of completely personal research. This will be followed by Mozart's Piano Sonata No. 10 in C Major K 330, an unparalleled combination of simplicity of execution and formal perfection. Finally, Lortie will perform the Années de Pèlerinage. Deuxième Année by Liszt, a sort of piano suite with a strong theatrical style, inspired by the author's Italian stays and imbued with literary references to his beloved Dante and Petrarch.
The concert is a reciprocal homage of LacMus Festival to Louis Lortie, who in 2019 celebrates his 60th birthday. The aim of this event is to celebrate the Maestro's historical and emotional bond with Italy: a relationship that has lasted for 35 years, precisely since 1984, the year in which Louis Lortie won the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition.
