A walk that leads us to a small chapel, accessible thanks to a mule track, located on the slopes above the village of Tremezzo, with a splendid panoramic view of Lake Como, the Balbianello and Bellagio.
As you walk through the little streets of the villages of Tremezzo and Mezzegra and look up towards the mountains, you will notice a small, solitary building just beyond the first low rocky slopes. This is the Cappelletta degli Alpini, which stands at an altitude of 568 meters and enjoys a splendid panoramic view.
The chapel is dedicated to the Madonna of Panoort and can be reached via various paths, in particular one suitable for mountain bikes and another steeper one suitable for hiking.
The walk to reach the Cappelletta degli Alpini starts from the village of Rogaro, a small rural hamlet of Tremezzo, consisting of a few farmhouses gathered around a small square and farmsteads, surrounded by pastures and woods.
Rogaro can be reached on foot from Tremezzo, starting from the Museo del Paesaggio del Lago di Como and the Parco Teresio Olivelli, or by car, which can then be parked near the Hotel Rusall, along Via San Martino di Rogaro.
Proceed walking along Via San Martino and, after passing the first path on the left that indicates the locality of Intignano, a few meters ahead we will find the path to the Cappelletta and the Monti di Nava right next to a parking lot and a small refreshment area with benches and tables.
We follow the path on the left along a dirt road that, after a few meters, past a few farms, begins to climb with hairpin bends. It's impossible to make a mistake because the path is well indicated, with some photos of the chapel.
This climb is ideal for a MTB outing because the conditions of the path, although wild with stones and foliage, are good and the slope is never too steep.
Initially the path climbs into a forest, but after about 10 minutes of walking you come out into the open and can admire a enchanting view of Lake Como, Bellagio and its mountains.
It is in places like these that you feel the closeness between mountains and lake, between land and water, immersed in nature and silence.
Continuing to climb along the winding path the view is always better and reached 400 meters of altitude the path returns to enter the woods, but only for a few meters. We arrive at a crossroads where on the left we reach our destination, while continuing on the main path we reach the Monti di Nava.
Turn left, as indicated by the signaling, and begin to walk in a meadow that after a few meters leads us to the large clearing of land on which stands the Cappelletta degli Alpini and a small area suitable for refreshment. From here the view is incredible: in front of us Lake Como, the San Primo, Bellagio, the Balbianello, the Comacina Island and behind us the mountains, the Crocione.
For the return trip, you can choose to take the same route as the outward journey or decide to take a path suitable only for those who travel on foot. If you choose the steepest path, the pedestrian one, you have to pay a lot of attention to the descent because it is a very steep and craggy path.
This route allows to have a wonderful view on the Balbianello and on the village of Tremezzo. Once you reach the plain, the path continues for a few hundred meters in the meadows until it joins the Via San Martino in Rogaro where you parked your car.
Possibility of parking at the Hotel Rusall in Via San Martino in Tremezzina.
