Bellano is located on the eastern shore of the lake, at the mouth of the Pioverna torrent, which descends from Valsassina. In S. Giorgio square there is the late Romanesque parish church of SS. Nazaro and Celso, built in the middle of the XIV century by masters from Campione. The facade has alternating bands of light and dark stone with a spectacular rose window in terracotta. The interior is decorated with numerous fifteenth and sixteenth century frescoes. In the same square there is the church of Santa Marta, with inside nine life-size statues that tell the event of the deposition. At the side of the parish church there is the little road that goes up to the Orrido, the big water jump from the Pioverna stream that precipitates in the valley between rock walls. It is crossed by stairs and footbridges that make it accessible to visitors.

Near the Orrido there is the cotton mill Cantoni, a nineteenth-century factory when Bellano was a lively industrial center, especially specialized in the processing of fabrics.
We suggest the walk from Bellano to Dervio (3:00 hours) following a stretch of the “Sentiero del Viandante”, an ancient communication route. The path winds halfway up the lake and starts near the Orrido.
The market takes place every Thursday morning.
