Best places to take a dip in Lake Como, Tremezzina

Have a swim in the lake is not just a perfect solution for surviving the summer heat but it can also be the most convenient and the cheapest option to satisfy this desire of holidays and relax.

In Tremezzina there are many places and beaches to enjoy the lake, the sun and the summer time: some of them are open to the public without paying any extra-cost for the entrance, but for others a charge is normally made for providing special services and exclusive locations . But let’s go with the order, starting from the first:
In Colonno there is a quiet and intimate sandy beach that can be reached on foot from the church square of the village, perfect for those who do not like crowded places.

Then at Sala Comacina there is the Walter Mai Park, which, in addition to have a wide lawn (on the left of the Lido di Sala Comacina), has a football field and basketball court, kid’s playground, beach volleyball court and bowls. For those who prefer to lie down and relax on the sand, a few meters from the boat dock there is a free and perfect beach for the little ones.

Moving from Sala to Ossuccio we arrive at the Zoca de L’Oli and we find a romantic and suggestive corner of peace, a rocky beach known as “Miralago”. This place is located in front of Isola Comacina, far from the center of neighboring villages. The breathtaking view and also the quiet of this place giving it an added value.

At Ossuccio we meet the Lido di Ossuccio in Ospedaletto, from here the island is easily reachable by swim. Known for its extensive lawn where it is dancing throughout the night during the San Giovanni Festival, it is also the most appreciated by teenagers.

Crossing the bridge over the Perlana River, we can stop at the beach, that is, a small expanse of rocks at the mouth of the river, right at the point where it is thrown into the lake.

Then we arrive at the edge of Lenno and we find the Gulf of Venus: a beautiful garden located at the end of the long lake, just after Navigation. Here is a small stairway that allows access to the lake from the lawn, and a few meters later we can see the St George’s beach. To split the two bathing spots there is a small bar, the Kiosk of Venus.

We go on and we arrive in Mezzegra: first we find the Lake Terrace famous for the magnificent panorama, reachable through a gate to the right of the municipal park trail, and soon after Villa Amila we find another beach at the mouth of a river.

As for Tremezzo we must name Teresio Olivelli Park (former Meier Park), which hosts several events during the summer evenings. It is a very lush lawn with a bar, with a pretty fountain in the center; Loved by young people just because it is bordered by a beach volleyball court and a children’s playground.

Finally we end with the Beau Rivage beach in Griante, that is, a long stretch of rocky beach visible from the highway leading to Menaggio and very appreciated for its rather ventilated location.

These are just some of the public spaces where you can take a dip in the water, but for those who prefer a real lido with all the comfort restaurants we should remember the Lido di Lenno especially for its gazebos on the beach, and the Lido di Cadenabbia For its pool just steps from the lake.

In short, although it isn’t exactly like being at the seaside, our Lake Como is a great way to enjoy the summer time and get away from the routine and the warmth of the city: JUST TRY TO SEE!
