Tremezzina Music Festival returns after a year’s forced stop. And it entrusts the general organization of the Festival to Music for Green Events, an association that has been active for years in the organization of musical events in the area of Como.
Thanks to the new partnership, this year’s preview will take place in the Municipality of Cernobbio with two evenings, on 8 August, hosted by the All Stars Dixieland Orchestra, and on 9 August with the jazz trio Scoca, Meneghello, Furian.
On Monday, August 12, the Festival opens with two groups that have in common the ability to make dialogue, through music, the peoples and cultures of the world. From Mediterranean folk music to those of Eastern Europe, from Portuguese fado to Greek rebetiko to Balkan music, klezmer and tzigane. The voice and theatricality of Camilla Barbarito and the historical formation Rhapsodija trio will accompany us on an engaging and exciting journey.
On August 13th the Festival will host for the first time a great jazz orchestra. The entire space will be dedicated to the Monday Orchestra directed by Luca Missiti and composed of about twenty musicians who will revive the history of cinema through the most beautiful soundtracks rearranged for big bands. “Movies” will also appeal to audiences who are usually reluctant to approach jazz sounds.
Another great novelty, at the end of the Festival, is an evening entirely dedicated to blues, especially traditional blues performed with acoustic instruments. Veronica Sbergia & Max De Bernardi trio, considered one of the best European country-blues, folk and ragtime bands, will open the stage to an extraordinary character, a real living legend, the American from Boston Watermelon Slim, born Bill Homans. With his voice, the harmonica, the dobro played with the slide and accompanied by the great “one man band” Max Prandi, will ignite the audience of the park Teresio Olivelli.
Never before has the Tremezzina Music Festival been in search of a synthesis between momentum and concreteness, between aspiration and possibility. Because, quoting Josè Saramago:
We must return to the steps already taken, to repeat them and to trace new paths alongside. You must start the journey again.
All concerts are free of charge and in case of bad weather will take place in a covered structure.
