Orrido di Bellano
The Orrido is a natural gorge formed in 15 million years (from the time of the thaw of the Adda glacier) by the waters of the Pioverna torrent that by erosion has carved a deep gorge in the stretch between Taceno in Valsassina and Bellano. The peculiarity of the Orrido consists in the possibility to walk a short stretch inside the gorge, using walkways embedded in the rock. The sparkling water, the waterfalls, the smooth walls, the vegetation, the caves dug into the rock are a particularly suggestive sight, especially when the torrent is in flood.

The gloomy ravines, the gloomy rumble of the tumultuous waters have inspired many writers and have made the Orrido the most famous tourist resort of the Lario. The Casa del Diavolo is the little tower built on a rock of the Pioverna river.

Its name is linked to the mythological figures that decorate the façade of the top floor and evokes satanic fears and rituals in the collective imagination, making the mysterious charm of the place palpable. A concrete walkway allows the visitor to admire the beauty of a truly unique place.
