2 WEEKENDS, 4 CHARMING VILLAGES, 5 SENSES
November 5th-6th and 12th-13th
Two special weekends, sponsored by Slow Food, to experience stories, gastronomic traditions and flavors of Lake of Como, inherited from generations of men and women who built unique tradition and culture. The gastronomic tradition of Lake Como will be experienced with all the senses.
The 4 charming towns of the Central Lake District, Bellagio, Menaggio, Tremezzina and Varenna invite you to explore the territory with guided tours to discover the most beautiful places of the area and meet farmers, fishermen and winemakers who will introduce you to local traditions.
This itinerary allows you to explore the centre of Menaggio and the magnificent Valle Sanagra, discovering some little-known places and tasting the freshwater delicacies of the area. Trouts brook trouts and the legendary Missoltino del Lago. We involved fishermen, breeders and producers who love to narrate the territory through their creations and quality products. Our guides will explain the beauty of the places, but also the origins and typicality of the foods that you will taste during the taste stops we have planned
The Sanagra valley is one of the most beautiful and least known places on Lake Como. Here the Sanagra river flows sometimes placid and sometimes impetuous. We leave the centre of Menaggio to to guide you to the discovery of this magical place, where natural beauty blends with curious and important historical traces. A simple walk through the ancient village of Loveno where we will encounter narrow alleys that suddenly open onto spectacular views of the lake and important historical villas. Continuing towards the heart of the valley, magical and little-visited, we will encounter a suspension bridge and evidence of the productive history of this place. Awaiting us are an old brick factory, now converted into a museum, and an old nail factory that is now an agritourism and a sustainable trout and sturgeons. We visit the agriturismo in the company of the owner. We then return to the centre of Menaggio to meet, in his workshop, one of the last true fishermen on the lake. It will be Slow Food experts will tell us the history, characteristics and creation methods of the most iconic and famous of the lake's typical products: the Missoltino.
