On March 24, Villa Melzi, in Bellagio, opens the 2018 season and welcomes its visitors to the magnificent gardens on the lake.
The stunning neo-classical architectural complex of Villa Melzi was realized at the beginning of 1800 for Francesco Melzi d'Eril, Duke of Lodi, Vice President of Italian Republic under Napoleon and afterwards Gran Chancellor of the Napoleonic Reign of Italy.
The Villa is surrounded by beautiful English-style gardens, enriched with sculptures, that strech out along the lake shore and are armoniously inserted into the hilly scenery of the Bellagio peninsula on Lake Como.
Only the gardens and historical museum in the orangery are open to the public.
