Next May 9th the botanical garden of Villa Cipressi will reopen to the public!
On Saturdays and Sundays, from 10.00 to 19.30, you can walk in the magnificent botanical garden, which with a harmonious succession of steps and terraces leads to the lake.
A wonderful opportunity for those who live in the area and want to enjoy the enchantment of spring on the lake after a period of forced seclusion. Our camellias are still in bloom and await you.
Villa Cipressi
Villa Cipressi, a prestigious complex of ancient buildings and splendid gardens, whose origins date back to the 12th century, stands on the eastern shore of Lake Como in Varenna. Thanks to the favourable climatic conditions, the garden is home to plants unusual for northern Italy, such as the American agave, of which we find specimens dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, as well as a splendid collection of Agavaceae and other Mediterranean botanical varieties such as arbutus, myrtle, pittosporum, tamarisk, palms in various species, and sapling oleanders. Special mention should be made of the cypresses, thin and very elegant, such as the rare specimens of the Californian Cupressus macrocarpa (Monterey cypress), which are found here.
A signposted route guides visitors through flowering borders that follow one another in the seasons: after the camellias and azaleas bloom in summer gardenias, hydrangeas and rose bushes and the flowerbeds are populated with annual blooms.
