Last night with pianist Leotta and Schubert's Sonatas

Sunday, February 9, 2020, 6:00 p.m. 6:00 p.m. at the Social Theatre in Como will be held the last evening in the company of the pianist Christian Leotta.

After the applauded concert of last 13th January, Christian Leotta will be back at the Teatro Sociale in Como on Sunday 9th February, at 6:00 p.m., to complete the cycle of Franz Schubert’s complete Piano Sonatas.

This is the fourth and last appointment of a musical feat that has also been a challenge: that of performing in full the 11 Sonatas for piano “completed” by Franz Schubert, a monumental corpus that only a few pianists in history have presented in public.

Christian Leotta is in fact the first and only Italian pianist to have in his repertoire and to perform in concert both the cycle of Beethoven’s Piano Sonatas and Schubert’s Piano Sonatas.

Famous Sonata in A minor D 845 (Op. 42), composed in 1825 and which was the first of Schubert’s Sonatas to be published, belonging to the period of the composer’s full maturity. The second part of the recital is dedicated to the shocking Sonata in B flat major D 960, the last masterpiece for piano by Franz Schubert, composed less than two months before his death and therefore considered in its own right as a sublime spiritual testament by Schubert: its lyrical purity suggests a resigned detachment from the world, taking the listener’s soul towards the infinite musical world of the Viennese genius from the very first bars.

Leotta performed this series of Schubert’s works for the first time last year in Japan, at the world-famous Alti Hall in Kyoto, and was an extraordinary success with audiences and critics all over the country: on that occasion she also performed almost the entire piano work by Franz Schubert, presenting it in a cycle of seven recitals that is still the largest series of Schubert’s concerts ever performed by a single pianist.

The musical event is realized with the collaboration and contribution of the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Como and in collaboration with the Teatro Sociale di Como As.Li.Co..
