The village of Bonzanigo and the painter Giulio Quaglio

The Municipality of Tremezzina, together with the social cooperative Liberi Sogni, which had already managed the creation of the community map of Tremezzina, is organizing a series of free and open heritage walks involving local community witnesses and art historians, as part of the Artway: Discovering the Artistic Heritage of Tremezzina project. This initiative is funded by the Support Fund for small and medium-sized art cities and villages particularly affected by the decline in tourist flows due to the COVID-19 pandemic, for projects containing measures for the promotion and revitalization of artistic heritage, from the Ministry of the Interior.

But what are heritage walks? These are guided walks through local stories told by community witnesses, who share traditions, customs, and practices that local residents continue to identify with, even after many years and generations. A walk to discover (or rediscover) the historical and artistic significance of the local area, uncovering new aspects of familiar places once thought to be fully known. Additional goals include bringing buried memories to the surface, acquiring new knowledge, surprise and enjoyment, sharing stories, fostering a sense of belonging, and evoking emotions. The presence of art historians will stimulate interdisciplinary dialogues that all participants can contribute to, creating shared interpretations of the heritage.
