Festival for the Patronal Celebration of Tremezzina 2019

Saturday, September 7, 2019 returns the gastronomic-dancing evening with the "Trippa della Soccorsina" in the Municipal Park of Ossuccio, organized by the Soccorsina Association of Ossuccio on the occasion of the traditional Patronal Celebration of Tremezzina.

Tremezzina Patronal Celebration

The religious celebration of the Beata Vergine del Soccorso is celebrated on 8 September in conjunction with the Nativity of Maria. It is one of the oldest traditions of Lake Como and coincides with the Patronal Celebration of the City of Tremezzina.

The Sacred Mountain of Ossuccio has been considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2003 and includes the Sanctuary and the fourteen chapels that illustrate the Mysteries of the Rosario.
Popular tradition links the beginnings of devotion to the Madonna to an ancient statue of Mary and an ancient painting. The statue, in white marble, probably hidden on the site in times of fights and invasions, was found here by a deaf-mute girl who had the gift of healing; it is now in a votive chapel adjacent to the Sanctuary. The painting, representing the Virgin and Child with Jesus and St. Euphemia, is located on a side altar of the Sanctuary.

The patronal celebration begins with the pilgrimage to the Santuario del Soccorso along the long avenue with the chapels representing the mysteries of Salvation, giving the opportunity to rediscover the highlights of Christian life as the path to the Father's house.

On the occasion of the traditional Celebration of the Madonna del Soccorso every year and for more than 30 years the Sport Society La Soccorsina organizes on 7 September an evening of musical and gastronomic entertainment at the Municipal Park of Ossuccio from 5:00 pm to modnight.
