The Béla Kóvacs duo, composed of clarinetist Irene Ces and pianist and conductor Manuel Tévar, stands out as one of the most innovative and promising proposals in the current musical scene. The duo’s name is inspired by the Hungarian composer Béla Kovács, known for his compositions for clarinet, reflecting the group’s particular orientation towards contemporary and chamber music.
The duo’s debut in 2023 at the Teatro Real in Madrid marked a milestone in their career, and since then they have continued to conquer prestigious stages such as the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid or the Festival Internacional Classics de L’Escala. In addition, their international careear continues to grow, with tours scheduled in Germany and the United States in 2025.
Irene Ces:
Clarinettist, one of the most important emerging talents of her generation. She has played in prestigious venues such as the Auditorio Nacional, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Teatro Monumental, the Teatres del Canal, the Auditorio Víctor Villegas in Murcia and the ADDA in Alicante, among others.
Very active in the field of chamber music and committed to the dissemination of contemporary music, in which she is a specialist, her interpretations are recognized for her refined technique and extreme sensitivity, achieving a very distinctive sound with the clarinet. She plays with an exclusive Buffet Tosca Mopane model.
She has performed at festivals such as the Segovia Festival (MUSEG), the Medinaceli Clásica sin Límites Festival, the Noches del Infantado Festival, the Les Clés du Classique Festival, Infantes Música and the El Escorial International Summer Festival, as well as performing as a soloist at the Sierra Music Fest, the L’Escala Festival, the Ribagorza Festival and the Madrid International Music Festival (COMA). In 2025, he plans to tour Germany, with concerts at the Magdeburg Festival and Berlin, and the United States, among others.
Manuel Tevar:
Conductor, pianist and composer, winner of the Prize of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, the only musician, together with Manuel de Falla, to receive this honor, and of the First Prize at the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition in New York.
Recognized for his international career, Tévar has established himself as one of the most important Spanish musicians of his generation.
He has conducted, among others, the orchestra I Musicisti della Scala in Milan, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, the CRR Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, the Sicilian Polyphonic Camerata, the Luxembourg Chamber Orchestra, the San Remo Symphony Orchestra and the United Nations Youth Ensemble.
His conducting schedule is constantly growing. After his debut at the Berlin Philharmonie in December 2024, he has engagements in the coming months in Europe, Asia and America, including debuts at prestigious venues such as the Smetana Hall in Prague and the Sala Verdi in Milan, with orchestras such as the Strauss Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kazakhstan Symphony Orchestra and the North Czech Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has performed as pianist in prestigious venues and festivals such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Rudolfinum in Prague, the Palacio de Foz in Lisbon, the Wiener Konzerthaus, the Palais des Academies in Brussels, among others, worldwide. In Spain, his most notable venues include the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, the Teatro Real, the Auditorio Miguel Delibes, the Teatro Monumental, the Fundación Juan March, the Palau de la Música in Barcelona, the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the Fundación Botín, the MNCARS, the Segovia Festival, the Festival of Spanish Music in Cádiz and the ENSEMS Festival… always receiving extraordinary praise from critics and audiences.
Manuel Tévar has been cultivating the success of his artistic work for years, establishing an unparalleled connection with the deepest sensitivity of the audience in each concert.
