Friday, June 11 at 20:45 at Villa del Grumello - Grande Cedro in Como is organized the event Bebo Ferra trio "Voltage".
The success of public and critics in the past seasons, the special atmosphere created by the fusion between jazz music and the naturalistic context of the Villa del Grumello park in Como, have pushed to enrich the project -now consolidated- of the Sunday jazz matinees with evening concerts, creating Villa del Grumello Jazz Festival, an event born thanks to the commitment of artistic director Flavio Minardo.
Villa del Grumello Jazz Festival welcomes at Grumello between June and July 2021 important musicians of the national and international scene, proposing also seminars of theoretical and practical deepening - not only jazz - and moments of meeting and enrichment open to everybody, by the musicians who will perform in the evening review or in the matinees.
Individual performances, tested groups and new formations will alternate around the majestic cedar tree of Grumello, under the sign of tradition, experimentation and creative contaminations.
From the union between Bebo Ferra - Sardinian artist by origin and Milanese by adoption - and Gianluca di Lenno and Nicola Angelucci, interesting and important artists in the international jazz scene, comes the album Voltage, polyrhythmic, open and full of energy. Bebo Ferra is recognized, also thanks to his long militancy in Paolo Fresu's Devil Quartet, as one of the most important and creative guitarists in the international jazz scene. There are several formations under his name, many recordings, both as a leader and as a sideman. In addition to the repertoire, which is constantly renewed thanks to the prolificacy of the guitarist as a composer, in this original trio stands out the difference in the sound context. In fact, while maintaining intact the peculiar characteristics of Ferra's writing, and therefore the songwriting and the interest in polyrhythm, the environment turns out to be more "electric"" and more open, compared to his other formations, more acoustic and intimate.
In the afternoon, at 3pm, a seminar with Bebo Ferra is scheduled.
In this seminar, open to all instrumentalists, improvisation will be analyzed in all its problems. For a jazz musician, improvisation is to be considered the most important aspect, as well as the basis on which creativity can be developed. The approach to creativity and improvisation will be analyzed from a rhythmic, melodic and harmonic point of view, but also psychological and emotional. Whether you want to interpret an original song or you want to try a piece of the great repertoire of jazz music, improvisation is not only the starting point, but even more the point of arrival.
