The historical hamlet of Volesio is located on a mountain slope, above the Mainona river, which flows near the town. Volesio hosts some stately homes dating back to the second half of the 17th century and a group of farmhouses. These used to belong to local merchant families, such as the Carli, the Mainoni and the Brentano, who had migrated to Northern Europe, where they made their fortunes.
