Within the historical hamlet of Bonzanigo tourists can admire the 17th-century Brentano Palaces, which testify to the success achieved by local merchants in Northern Europe, where they opened commercial hubs and banks.
The palaces are normally composed of three floors: the floor devoted to official meetings, the piano nobile (literally, noble floor), the floor used by servants, the basements and the stables. Some of these palaces were soon downgraded to farmhouses and were split among several owners. Other palaces, such as Palazzo Brentano which now hosts administrative offices, and Palazzo Rosati have been better preserved.
