Wild stage, in a very little frequented area, passing through Val di Livo, Valle di San Vincenzo and Valle di Sorico.
Wonderful views of the Upper Lake and, in the final part, of Lake Mezzola.
Peglio (650 m) can be reached by bus (line C18 from Dongo). From this locality one follows the road to Livo passing through a plain bordered on the right by Mount Sasso Pelo. On the left you pass in front of the oratory of the Madonna di Gorghiglio of the 17th century. Here you find the deviation to the Zertin farm holidays. You cross the village of Livo (657 m) - refreshment stop - bus stop (line C18) - which retains much of its original rural structure. At the end of the village, take the cartroad to Dangri, passing the ancient church of S. Giacomo (15th century) located near the village cemetery.
The carriage road leads to the Livo valley, arriving at the characteristic stone bridge over the Livo torrent, called Ponte di Dangri (659 m hrs 1,00) where there is the homonymous crotto. After the bridge, go down to the right, ignoring the mule track that leads to the Como Hut and the Darengo lake. After a few meters, ignoring the other mule track that climbs on the left towards Val di Bares, follow the path along the river bed. When you reach a group of huts, go down to the riverbed and follow it for about a hundred meters, before going up to the huts of Barro (617 m hrs 0,20; 1,20) a very interesting rural nucleus.
The path now leads very steeply downhill (beware of landslides!) to the bed of the Bares torrent. N.B. The fording of the Val di Bares can be very difficult or even impossible after a long period of rain. Go up along a very steep path on the other side of the valley and continue into the woods until you reach a small group of huts located on a saddle. Continue uphill through the woods until you reach the huts of PUII (800 m) at the edge of the chestnut groves, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Val di Livo. At the fork, at the height of the last huts of Puii, take the uphill path on the left. Go up in the middle of the meadows to Trobbio (950 m 1,40 hours; 3,00). From the fountain you take you upstream of the village, and continue to the right, taking you out of the Valle di Livo, halfway up the hillside to Tabbiadllo (980 m hrs 0.30; 3.30) a wide knoll overlooking Domaso and Gera Lario from which you can admire an exclusive view of the upper lake, the Pian di Spagna and the mouths of the rivers Mera and Adda.
Cross the cemented cartroad that comes up from Vercana near the fountain and continue on the path that leads to Roncai (1,000 m). From here the path bends towards the valley of the torrent San Vincenzo to get to Incisa (950 m 0.45 hours; 4.15). At the last houses, take the downhill path on the right. A flat stretch heads towards the bottom of the San Vincenzo valley. A steep descent, through an impressive birch forest, on landslide terrain, leads to the bottom of the valley. Cross the bridge and, after a few meters, take the uphill path on the left that goes up the other side of the valley. Out of the woods, continue halfway up the hillside to Montalto (1,030 m, 0.45 hours; 5.00 hours).
You cross the village and come out on the paved road that goes up from Gera Lario. If you want to reach the Rifugio Alpino Dalco follow the asphalted road on the right downhill for about 10 min. The 'VIA' instead continues on the uphill road to the left. After about 200 meters you take the mule track on the left that after about 100 meters leads to a cartroad that you follow to the right. After a short stretch you arrive on the asphalt road and follow it on the right for about 500 meters. When you reach a small wooden votive shrine and an information board with the names of the local mountain pastures, leave the road and turn left onto the meadows. From here you head towards the deep incision of the Sorico valley, (pay attention to landslides in this stretch).
After crossing the two fords, at the bottom of the valley, the path goes first steeply and then flat to the pastures of Piazza Lunga (965 m). From here, follow the cartroad for about 800 meters that comes out on the asphalt road that goes up from Gera Lario and shortly leads to Fordeccia (1,094 m 1.30 hours; 6.30).
Continue on the asphalted road and after approx. 150 meters you reach a junction where you turn right (on the left you can reach after 200 meters the Giacomino farmhouse). Continue on the cartroad that looking at the mighty coast of Sasso Manduino leads to Colorina and shortly after to Sass Olt (950 m) from where you can enjoy a wonderful view of Lake Mezzola and Val Chiavenna. Just before the two huts go down to the right and take the little path that leads to Baita Gaia where you take the cartroad on the left that leads to Monte Pradaioli and, through a thick chestnut wood, to the clearing of Pozzi (844 m). Continue on the cartroad that comes out in another cartroad that you follow on the right to get to Peledo (817 m).
The descent continues through the woods to Selve (409 m, 1.30 hours; 8.00). At the fountain of the village, go down through the woods on an old uneven mule track to reach the beautiful church of San Miro. A paved staircase goes down to Sorico (213 m hrs 030; 8,30) - bus stop of the bus C10 (Como-Menaggio-Colico) - hotels - refreshment - the end of the route.
Peglio can be reached by bus starting from Como through the line C10 to Menaggio, arrived at the terminus continue with the line C10 to Colico to take in the end the line C18 to Livo. Continue the rest of the journey on foot to Peglio.
