Walk that leads from the road up to Mount Bisbino to Mount Colmegnone, which offers beautiful panoramic views of the underlying basin of Lake Como.
Mount Colmegnone is a peak, belonging to the section of Prealpi Luganesi and the subsection of Prealpi Comasche, with a splendid panoramic view of Lake Como and easy to reach.
The peak is located in the municipality of Laglio, but the territory of the mountain extends also in the municipalities of Carate Urio and Moltrasio.
There are several routes to reach it:
In this article we will describe this last path.
.
The difference in height is low, the path is for everybody, it can be covered also by car (dirt road) for those who have difficulties in walking, and offers wonderful panoramic views of the underlying basin of Lake Como.
From Como reach Cernobbio. From the center of Cernobbio begin the road that climbs to the quaint village of Rovenna (where the traditional festival “Witches, Chestnuts and Surroundings” is celebrated every year) and Mount Bisbino (1,325 m above sea level). Continue for 15 km and take the “Via dei Monti Lariani” in the direction of Rifugio Bugone (there is a signpost). Please note that the road has private sections and then becomes agro-silvo-pastoral, accessible only to residents and people with passes, thus not allowing parking near the shelters.
Follow the "Alta Via dei Monti Lariani" that quickly leads downhill to Rifugio Bugone.
After the refuge, continue along the path that with several ups and downs leads to the Murelli refuge from where it is possible to catch a glimpse of Mount Colmegnone.
Shortly after the Murelli the road branches off, following the right you reach the Agriturismo Roccolo San Bernardo above which is the summit.
At the top of Colmegnone you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the basin of Lake Como and on clear days the view opens from the Apennines to the Swiss Alps.
On the top there is a wooden cross placed by the CAI section of Moltrasio.
Public parking is located after the last hairpin bend, just before the summit. It is important to note that the road branching off from Via per il Bisbino, and leading to the various refuges, has several private sections and subsequently becomes an agro-silvo-pastoral road. This means that access is reserved exclusively for residents, local business owners and those with a pass. It is therefore not possible to use it to park closer to the refuges.
