The Pro Loco of Como, born more than forty years ago, boasts mixed trends, as is often the case with voluntary associations if they fail to provide themselves with continuous programs and, above all, if they do not have the ability to regenerate themselves by including and involving new generations/youth. In recent years, thanks to the great effort and commitment of Morabito, President and Moroni, the Pro Loco of Como has organized a number of medieval re-enactment initiatives in the area and in schools. Remember Como Citta; Medioevale in addition to a series of events at Castello Baradello, in collaboration with Spina Verde Regional Park.
This situation is also mirrored nowadays: there are currently thousands of pro loco in Italy, and the activities they carry out pertain to different spheres of tourist, social, cultural, ecological and sports intervention. As a rule, they are based in municipalities and hamlets; pro loco may have as their headquarters the hamlet to which they belong and maintain their competence in the entire municipality. It tends to be an associational phenomenon that affects mostly small and medium-sized towns. It happens that since the pro loco denomination is not protected in all Regions, in some Italian municipalities and hamlets there may be more than one pro loco of which usually the oldest (but this is a custom that is not always applied) is registered in the regional register with annual validity for obtaining contributions.
