From Saturday 7th December 2019 to Monday 6th January 2020 at the Chiesa di San Giacomo in Piazza Grimoldi in Como will take place the traditional Nativity Scenes Show.
Nativity Scenes Show
The Nativity Scenes is the distinctive and characteristic element of an almost millenary Christmas tradition that has its roots in the XII century with Saint Francis, the first author of the representation of the nativity in miniature. As every year the Città dei Balocchi wants to exalt the history and how much this tradition is important by using a huge space in the Chiesa di San Giacomo.
Tradition renews itself
Here several artists will exhibit their nativity scenes that, while maintaining their original meaning, often represent variations on the most classic themes in terms of materials and artistic inspiration. You can admire examples of more traditional compositions or more personal interpretations. In any case, there will be creations for all tastes, in a space that combines history and art, craftsmanship and tradition.
The Nativity Scenes show this year reaches its 19th editio thanks to the collaboration of the Chiesa Cattedrale that provides the Chiesa di San Giacomo. Thanks to all the fans who have been making this event special for so many years, generously lending us their works rich in creativity, elegance and simplicity. There are those who love to go back to the classic style and those who prefer artistic and personal interpretations, they are the real protagonists who share with all visitors the passion with which these cribs were born. An important collaboration that is renewed this year is that with the Ethnographic Museum of St. Petersburg from which will arrive some cribs on display. The event is organized with the support of UniCredit.
