Here is the rich program of Christmas events in Varenna.
Varenna is preparing for the holiday period full of emotions and events, thanks to the usual collaboration between the Municipal Administration and the various associations. The lights for the village have been turned on, as has the possibility of seeing and "hearing" the Nativity scene in the ancient Romanesque church of San Giovanni Battista, which can be visited on days before holidays at 5.30 pm and on holidays at 10.30 am and 5.30 pm. We continue with the usual "Buseccata in company" with exchange of greetings, which will take place in the Multifunctional Hall in Via Roma (with reservations required) on Thursday 19 December starting from 7.30 pm, organized by Pro Varenna and the Alpini Group, Varenna section . On 21, 22 and 23 December at 2.30 pm Santa Claus arrives with his elf on a Vaporetto at the floating pier in Varenna. On Tuesday 24 December, the appointment will be at Riva Grande again by vaporetto from 4.30 pm, followed by a procession to Piazza San Giorgio, distribution of gifts and snacks. On December 29th, starting at 9.00 pm, in the parish church of San Giorgio, the Municipal Administration of Varenna proposes, as every year, the Great Christmas Concert, organized by the Opera Simphony Orchestra directed by Maestro Maurizio Tambara, who will present a program entirely dedicated to the Christmas tradition. Before the concert, scholarships will be awarded to deserving students from Varenna by Mayor Mauro Manzoni. On December 31st we will say goodbye to the year that ends and we will celebrate the year that arrives in Piazza San Giorgio, starting from 11 pm, in the company of Giorgino Dj, Roby's Dj and Max KingArt Dj. In case of bad weather the event will be held in the multipurpose hall in via Roma. On January 2nd at 9.00 pm, in the church of San Giorgio, the Greenslever Gospel Choir directed by Fausto Caravati will perform. The curtain falls on Christmas events on the afternoon of January 6th where we will celebrate the arrival of the Befana together. All we have to say is: we look forward to seeing you in large numbers and happy holidays!
In case of rain, the events planned outdoors will be moved to the De Marchi multipurpose hall.
