Hike from Pigra to Alpe di Blessagno

For those who love to walk in a natural setting, enjoying a spectacular view of Lake Como and the mountains, we recommend a moderate difficulty excursion lasting 45/50 minutes.
The suggestive itinerary leads from Argegno to Alpe di Blessagno, situated in the splendid mountains of Val d’Intelvi, in the province of Como.

It is advisable to take the Argegno-Pigra funicular, which takes 5 minutes.
The funicular ride is an experience not to be missed: from the lake to the mountains in just 5 minutes. In a short time, it covers a difference in height of 653 meters, enjoying a breathtaking view of the lake and mountains.

You then reach Pigra, a small mountain hamlet, located on a short plateau at the mouth of the Val d’Intelvi.

Once in Pigra you must take the path that leads to the Alpe di Blessagno.
From Pigra funicular area, reach the roundabout Antelami continuing along the path “Pigra da Scoprire” to Piazza San Rocco (where you will find the homonymous seventeenth-century church).
Go along via Blessagno until you reach via Militare, from here, turn right and continue towards the sports ground.
Then, you will find a parking lot, turn left on path n.8.
Leave the carriageway and follow the mule track towards Alpe di Blessagno.

After a short steep stretch, the mule track continues gently through beautiful woods.
You will find the gate of Cascina Pianello (h. 1070 m) and again another gate after which you arrive at Alpe di Blessagno (h. 1050 m) where the Agriturismo Le Radici is located.

Along the way you can enjoy the fantastic view of Lake Como from the top of the mountain, the old meadows and the view of the Val d’Intelvi.

Le Radici farmhouse

The farmhouse is located in the middle of the mountain pasture in a very sunny position; the newly built structure is built with stones from the old ruins, beams in chestnut wood carved by skilled local craftsmen. Here you can taste a simple and genuine cuisine made of typical mountain dishes, observe the animals closely and admire the beautiful landscape that surrounds the farmhouse.

The location enjoys an excellent view of the surrounding mountains including Mount Generoso and the distant Mount Rosa.
A particular proposal of the Agriturismo Le Radici is the Trekking with the llamas, starting from the Agriturismo and going along the old mule track, to observe the pastures and the beautiful Val d’Intelvi following a simple and pleasant path until you see the stunning panorama of the pre-Alps and Lake Como.
