From Brunate to Palanzone

Starting from Como, walk along Via Tommaso Grossi up to the top, from here take the road to Brunate. Once in Brunate and after the arrival point of the funicular proceed to the square near Capanna CAO (950 m) where you can park your car.
The parking is on payment: € 1,00 for the first hour; € 1,50 for the following hours; € 7,00 daily.

Past the square, continue on the carriage road on the left that passes in front of the C.A.O. refuge.

The path continues slightly uphill passing first Baita Carla, then Baita Bondella and Baita Boletto Fabrizi with beautiful panoramic squares.

Shortly after Baita Boletto there is a junction, continue on the path to the left for the "Dorsale" to reach the Bocchetta di Molina (1110 m above sea level) with a view of the hills of Brianza and the plain.

At Bocchetta di Molina several roads divide. Keep left upstream and after passing some small rocks you will find yourself at a crossroads. Take the path called "dei Faggi" on the left slightly downhill.

The "Sentiero dei Faggi" trail crosses the northern side of Bollettone, overlooks Val di Gaggia and reaches Bocchetta di Lemna.

At the end of the "Sentiero dei Faggi" you reach Bocchetta di Lemna.

Now take the small road that runs along the ridge and then cuts across the eastern slope of Punta dell'Asino (1272 m) to reach Bocchetta di Palanzo. Continue along the small road to the left and, in a short time, you will reach the Riella or Palanzone refuge. Behind the refuge a very steep path starts that, with a few bends, goes up the bare slopes at the top of Palanzone, reaching the summit, where there is a stone monument.

For the descent you can follow the uphill path going back to Capanna Cao. The effort will be repaid by beautiful panoramas and unique views.
