Immediately after you can see Villa Maria, a monumental residence built in neo Renaissance style between 1889 and 1892 by the engineer Giacomo Mantegazza from Menaggio for the American Martin Clerc but completed by the heir Josephine May. Among the various artists involved by Mantegazza for the interior decoration stands Lodovico Pogliaghi author of the decorations of the main staircase and of some ceilings.
The villa, located in an elevated position within a large park, is organized according to a symmetrical design with an elegant central loggia and resumes compositional elements of Lombard Mannerism.
