The Alessandro Volta Foundation in collaboration with the Como Conservatory, as part of the “Summer 2020” events organized for the city of Como, proposes four concerts to be held in the space below the Broletto. The title of the initiative is “Portici in musica“.
The first concert will be held on Saturday 22 August.
“At this time it was important to make a small musical contribution to the city, particularly in a historically significant space. – says Luca Levrini, President of Fondazione Volta – Throughout history and for centuries, the arcades of the Broletto have in fact represented a place of meeting and confrontation for the city, a place of debate for the people of Como for the good of the city. A space to be inhabited and enhanced today. In addition, in the eighteenth century the Broletto was a theatre, a place of entertainment before the construction of the “Sociale”. The arcades of the Broletto are well suited for musical performances, both because they are indoor and because they can be enjoyed by those in Piazza Duomo or Via Pretorio. I hope that people passing by, in compliance with the new prevention mesaures for the Covid, will be able to appreciate even for just a few minutes the deep pleasure of listening to classical music and be enchanted by the beauty and charm of the place”.
“As a Conservatory we are honoured and anxiously happy to revive our young talents in these concerts located in the heart of the city. – commented Enzo Fiano, President of the Conservatory of Como – After months of painful closure, with the perception that everything was frozen – but in reality the Conservatory has brilliantly overcome all educational needs by telematic means, including some video productions of absolute respect – proposing and offering our musical heart to the city of Como and its citizens is a manifestation of love, an incentive of trust, as well as civil and composed teaching as the only way out of this dangerous and underhand emergency”.
Participation is free of charge.
