The exhibition "Villa Monastero between Shakespeare and Manzoni" has been organized on occasion of the anniversary of the death of the English dramatist, considered to be the greatest English writer and the most distinguished dramatist of Western culture, William Shakespeare (1564-1616), during which you will be able to consult the dossier that took its cue from the nineteetnth-century decoration of the Mornico drawing-room, inspired by the tragedy "Romeo and Juliet". You will also be able to find paintngs related to "The Betrothed", a bust of the writer, poet and dramatist Alessandro Manzoni and a small statue of Lucia Mondella, the main female character of the novel considered to be the benchmark of Italian literature.
Villa Monastero in Varenna hosts a botanical garden, a museum and is a congress centre. Among the congresses organized in Villa Monastero, there are the summer classes of the Italian School of Physics with the involvement of over 34 Nobel prizes.
