Sunday 13th September at 6.00 pm, in one of the most fascinating locations on the lake, Palazzo Gallio in Gravedona and Uniti, the first of the six events of the XXXIII Festival Pianomaster will take place.
The duo Marco Schiavo and Sergio Marchegiani will perform in a four-handed piano concert.
Schiavo and Marchegiani
The Duo is appreciated by the public and international critics for the very personal style, the naturalness of the musical discourse, the beauty of the sound, the intensity and overwhelming energy of their interpretations.
Parallel to their intense solo activity, since 2006 Sergio Marchegiani and Marco Schiavo have formed one of the most active and dynamic piano duo on the Italian and international scene.
They have given many hundreds of concerts all over the world, playing in the most prestigious halls: Great Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York, Great Hall of the Philharmonie and Konzerthaus in Berlin, Golden Hall of the Musikverein and Great Hall of the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Great Hall of the Mozerteum in Salzburg, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, BeethovenHaus in Bonn, Rudolfinum and Smetana Hall in Prague, Bulgaria Hall in Sofia, Hermitage Theatre in St. Petersburg, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Petruzzelli Theatre in Bari and also in Rome, Paris, Zurich, Sofia, Istanbul, Oslo, Helsinki, Moscow, Montreal, Washington, Mexico City, Montevideo, Sao Paulo of Brazil, Baku, Astana, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, etc..
In 2013 they made their debut at the Ravello Festival; in 2017 they gave a recital at the Sala Verdi of the Milan Conservatory in the Concert Society Season, which invited them again in 2019.
They have performed with important orchestras such as the Berliner Symphoniker, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the New York Symphonic Orchestra, the Mexico State Symphony Orchestra, the Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestras of Mexico City, Prague and Madrid and the Camerata Ducale of Vercelli.
They have recorded for national radio and television broadcasters in Italy (RAI Radio3), the Czech Republic (live national live on the third radio channel from Dvořák Hall), Germany, Bulgaria, Russia, Mexico and Hong Kong. The duo makes their debut on the record market in 2014 with a Decca CD dedicated to Franz Schubert which has received excellent reviews from critics: "total and high school pianism" (Antonio Brenna, "Amadeus"); "The duo formed by Schiavo and Marchegiani... The immense theme of solitude [in Fantasia in F minor] and its exorcism is superbly expressed by the two eminent pianists" (Claudio Strinati, "Il Venerdì di Repubblica").
In 2018 Decca releases their second CD entitled "Dances" with Johannes Brahms' Hungarian Dances and Waltzes op. 39. "perfect balance, the result of a tight research... a smooth and admirable sound and stylistic balance" (Mattia Rossi, 5 stars on "Amadeus"); "A performance that you don't listen to, but you drink with your ears, as if it were a flûte of champagne made sound. The brilliance of the timbre, the clarity of the eloquence, the exaltation of the rhythm make this CD the absolute reference recording for Hungarian Dances and Waltzes op. 39. Inalienable" (Andrea Bedetti, 5/5 on "MusicVoice"). In 2020 Decca released their new CD containing Mozart's K. 242 and K. 365 Piano Concertos for two pianos and Kozeluch's Piano Concerto for four hands recorded in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gudni A. Emilsson.
They studied with great teachers such as Ilonka Deckers Küszler, Alexander Lonquich, Bruno Canino, Franco Scala, Aldo Ciccolini and Sergei Dorenski. They teach at the Conservatories of Alexandria and Potenza, are often invited to take part in international competition juries and hold masterclasses all over the world (Spain, Serbia, Turkey, United States, Mexico, Kazakhstan, Japan, Australia, Brazil, etc.).
