The prestige and timeless fame achieved by Swan Lake is enhanced by the inspiring music by Pëtr Il’ič Čajkovskij and by the highly inventive and expressive choreography by Marius Petipa. One of the very classics of ballet will be performed in Como on Saturday December 31st at 6pm by the acclaimed and prestigious Russian Classical Ballet company, composed of a cast of Russian ballet stars, under the artistic direction of Evgeniya Bespalova.
Considered the icon of 19th century classical ballets, Swan Lake is a story of love, betrayal and the triumph of good over evil. Full of romance and beauty, this ballet has delighted audiences for more than a century.
The choreography requires great technique and skill from the dancers in its execution. The portrayal of the characters, particularly in the confrontation between the purity of the White Swan and the darkness of the Black Swan, requires virtuosity and strong dramatic talent from the solo dancers, culminating in the two 'Grand Pas de Deux' in the second and third scenes. Another striking moment is the enchanting 'Dance of the Little Swans'.
