Biography

The Soprano Elena Bakanova and Pianist Raffaele Mascolo formed the “Duo Luoghi Immaginari” that, since 2004, performed in Italy, Spain, Russia, Norway and Germany. They have a “Lieder repertoire”, less known to the great public, in order to patrticular composers, who possess nonetheless a great artistic value.

At the same time they played great composers and recorded their works in various CDs. They got also several dedicated pieces by contemporary authors and performed premières. Recently the Duo has been performing at the Teatro Bibiena in Mantova, at the Teatro Comunale di Asti, at the Concerti del Chiostro of the Conservatorio G.Verdi di Milano, at the “Festival Armonie in Valcerrina”, at the “Palazzo Ducale di Mantova”, at the “L’ora della musica” in Reggio Emilia, at the “Malipiero Asolo Festival”, at the “Amici della Musica di Gressoney”, at the “Sobor Gallery” of St. Petersburg, at the “Festival de Musica de Alicante”, at the “Märkische Musikfestspiele”, at the “Neckar Music Festival” in Weissenhof in Germany, at the “Heidelberg Theater”, at the “Teatro di Murcia” in Spain , at the International “Festival of Bergen E.Grieg” in Norway and at the “Serate Musicali” in Milan.

In June 2015 the prestigious magazine “Amadeus” published their CD “Russian Songs”. Future concerts will feature them in Prague , Finland and at the Mariinsky Theatre. Elena Bakanova and Raffaele Mascolo are professors at the State Conservatory “G.Puccini” in La Spezia Italy.
