How the lessons will take place:
Tuesday 8th September, 5.30 p.m.: after a brief introduction of the initiative in support of the Garden of the Valley, we will break the ice by identifying the essential points to draw easily from life and, in particular, to draw outdoors.
Tuesday 15th September, 5.30 p.m.: during the meeting we will explore the theme of chiaroscuro, understand how human perception works and establish a few simple basic rules for the representation of light and shadow.
Tuesday 22 September, 5.30 pm: The theme of the day will be the intuitive perspective and, in particular, the atmospheric perspective.
Tuesday 29 September, 5.30 p.m.: closing lesson in which we will try to understand how to develop beyond the en plein air experience in the garden: advice to improve one's ability to draw, advice to devote oneself to botanical illustration, advice to start using colour.
The lessons are practical, except for a short initial brief at 5.30pm in front of the tool shed. Materials are the responsibility of the participants, professional materials are not required and you can use what you have at home.
Beginners are advised to use only pencils, while those who already have experience can use any tool: pencils, pens, crayons, chalks, charcoals.
Those who wish to buy a kit to learn to draw, can book it at a cost of 23 Euro at the time of registration or they can go to a fine arts shop (not a stationery shop) and buy: a 35×50 cm block of art study dusting paper; HB, 2B, 4B and 6B pencils; sharpened sharpener and soft white bread gum.
Lessons are free, a free contribution is required (starting from 5 Euro per lesson) which will be donated to the Association "Il Giardino della Valle" which takes care of the garden maintenance. For organisational reasons, booking by email or by whatsapp message to Elena is compulsory. In case of bad weather the teacher will communicate an alternative date.
The lessons will take place with a minimum of 6 participants. The maximum number of people for each lesson is 15 in order to guarantee the distances inside the Garden of the Valley.
Please contact the organiser if you wish to cancel your booking.
We recommend that you bring a pillow or plaid to sit on and mosquito repellent. And we kindly ask you to bring a protective mask to be used according to the regional regulations in force.
